Six Tunnock's Teacakes in the red and silver foil. A shortcake biscuit base, a dome of Italian meringue on top, the whole thing coated in chocolate and wrapped by hand-fed machines in Uddingston.
There is a correct way to eat one and it involves peeling the foil off in one piece, flattening it out and then dealing with the teacake. Nobody was taught this and everybody does it.
They are soft rather than crisp, and they should be eaten at room temperature rather than cold, since a fridge makes the marshmallow firm and the chocolate dull.
