Tunnock's Snowballs, 6 pack. A dome of marshmallow coated in chocolate and rolled in desiccated coconut, and unlike the teacake there is no biscuit base underneath.

That absence is the whole difference. A teacake has structure; a snowball is marshmallow and coating, which makes it lighter, messier and considerably more likely to end up with coconut down your front.

They have been made in Uddingston since the 1950s and, like everything Tunnock's make, have not been altered since.

Coconut divides a room, so these are firmly for one camp. We stock the teacakes, caramel wafers and caramel logs alongside them.

Keep them somewhere cool. Marshmallow softens in a warm cupboard and a soft snowball collapses.
