Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce, 150ml. The original, made in Worcester since 1837 and matured for eighteen months before it is bottled, which is why it tastes of considerably more than the sum of its parts.
It is used by the dash rather than the pour. A few drops into a stew, a chilli, a shepherd's pie or a gravy adds a savoury depth nobody will be able to identify. It is also the thing that makes cheese on toast worth eating, and a bloody mary is not one without it.

A bottle lasts a very long time at the rate it is actually used. Store it in a cupboard rather than the fridge.
It is also one of the few sauces that improves things it is not obviously suited to: a splash in a cheese sauce, in scrambled eggs, or over a plate of chips will all reward the experiment.
